This walking tour wants to value the category of World Heritage Site, granted by UNESCO in July of this year to the city of Madrid, to the area comprised by the Paseo del Prado and the El Retiro park.

We will begin our tour in the Plaza de Cibeles, where we will be able to contemplate this goddess associated with the city, the Palacio de Comunicaciones (current town hall) and the Bank of Spain.

Later on, we will go up through Alcalá street to see the Puerta de Alcalá and we will access the Retiro Park through its main entrance.

Once inside the park we will see its famous fountains, the big pond, the impressive monument to Alfonso XII, the Velázquez and Cristal palaces and we will leave the park crossing its beautiful French parterre

Leaving the Philip IV door we will find the two remains of the extinct Buen Retiro palace, the Casón del Buen Retiro and the Salón de Reinos.

We will arrive again at the Prado area where we will see the Jerónimos Church with its spectacular neo-Gothic façade.

And we will conclude our tour by seeing the Prado and Thyssen-Bornemisza museums. The first two luxury hotels that Madrid had, the Ritz and the Palace. And the god Neptune will say us good bye, or a see you later, from his magnificent fountain.
